  1. 1.   HARDWARE SPECIFICATIONS
  2.  
  3. Recommended Specifications for Hardware are as follows:
  4. Currently only for IBM compatible.......
  5.  
  6. Minimum Specification needed:
  7.    8MB of RAM
  8.    486 SX/25
  9.    Double speed CDROM drive
  10.    8MB of hard disk space required
  11.    640X480X256 colours screen resolution
  12.    1MB of video RAM
  13.  
  14. Optimum Specification Preferred:
  15.    Greater than 8MB of RAM
  16.    486 DX2/66
  17.    Double speed CDROM drive
  18.    SoundBlaster SB16 or compatible
  19.    8MB of hard disk space required
  20.    640X480X256 colours screen resolution
  21.    2MB of video RAM
  22.  
  23. If you are having difficulties with the speed of display or response of
  24. the CD you should check your hardware specifications and ascertain
  25. if they are equal to or better than the minimum specification above.
  26.  
  27. Anything lower than the minimum specification quoted above may
  28. result in unsatisfactory performance.

  31. 2.   INSTALLATION INFORMATION
  32.  
  33. The installation program is called install.exe and is located in
  34. the root directory of the D: drive.
  35.  
  36. The following is a summary of what the install program completes:
  37.  
  38. There are 2 directories created:    c:\firstaid
  39.                     c:\apw
  40.  
  41. The program then copies files that are needed to run the course.
  42. File names and locations are as follows:
  43.  
  44. commdldg.dll copied to c:\windows\system
  45. shell.dll copied to c:\windows\system
  46. runapw2.exe copied to c:\apw
  47. apdgv.vdr copied to c:\apw
  48. apqt.vdr copied to c:\apw
  49.  
  50. The next step that happens is the group "FIRST AID" is created on the
  51. windows desktop. An icon is then added and named "ST JOHN AMBULANCE".
  52.  
  53. The final step is the video for windows runtime setup. This is required
  54. to run the video that has been included in the course.

  56. Once all this has been completed the program will restart windows and
  57. you should be ready to go!

  60. 3.   REGISTERING OR BROWSING
  61.  
  62. When you begin to run this program, you will be given two options for
  63. use: registering or browsing. If your ultimate aim is to obtain your
  64. Senior First Aid Certificate, you should choose the Register option.
  65. You will need to input a registration number (which is supplied with
  66. the CD-ROM) and your name, address, etc.  Your progress through the
  67. course will be recorded on a floppy disk, and when you have finished
  68. the instructional material you may complete the Test Case Studies.
  69. When you have finished the Test Case Studies, you should send your
  70. records disk to the St John Ambulance office in the capital city of
  71. your State/Territory. If you have passed the test, you will be
  72. contacted about attending a one-day practical session, which covers
  73. bandaging, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, etc, and includes a
  74. practical test on these matters. If you have not passed the Test Case
  75. Studies, a written examination will be arranged, which you must
  76. complete before attending the one-day practical. When you have passed
  77. the practical session, you will receive your Senior First Aid
  78. Certificate.

  80. If more than one person wishes to register for the course, you will
  81. need to contact the St John Ambulance Office in the capital city of
  82. your State/Territory to arrange for a second registration number.

  84. If you simply wish to view the contents of the CD-ROM, but do not
  85. want to get a certificate, you should choose the browse option.
  86. You may view any section of the program, EXCEPT the Test Case Studies.
  87. Records of your progress will not be maintained at the end of the
  88. session.
  89.
